for the 1992 Olympics, it’s Spain’s most energetic,
extrovert and stylish city. The Barri Gotic (Gothic quarter)
is a maze of narrow streets and passageways leading to the
Cathedral, with its three aisles and ornate chapels. In sharp
contrast, Antoni Gaudi’s surreal Sagrada Familia Church
is 100 years old, yet still under construction, with a lift
to a viewing point among its fairy-tale spires offering panoramic

were realised for the Olympics including a vast aquarium,
